Monster: The Ed Gein Story is the third season of
the American biographical crime drama anthology television
series Monster, created for Netflix. The series explores the life and crimes of Ed Gein, a notorious serial killer whose gruesome acts
inspired numerous horror films.
Ed Gein, often referred to as the “Butcher of Plainfield”, was a
real-life serial killer and grave robber from Wisconsin. Gein’s actions were driven by a disturbed obsession
with his mother, and he famously fashioned items from human remains, including
a suit made of human skin. Ed Gein’s
legacy extends beyond his crimes, he has influenced iconic horror characters such
as Norman Bates, Leatherface and Buffalo Bill.
The series examines how Gein’s life and actions have shaped the horror
genre and popular culture.
